The Niwaki Moku Folding Saw is a handy garden tool, ideal for fine pruning jobs around the garden. It features a specially shaped beechwood handle and a simple locking device to keep the blade safely in place.
Ibara-me teeth are angled to cut both along and across the grain, giving a very fast, efficient action. Cuts on the pull stroke, like all Japanese saws.

CARING FOR YOUR TOOLS
Most of Niwaki's sharp tools are crafted from carbon steel. To keep your tools in good condition and ensure they last for many years of use, they require some simple but regular maintenance. Here are some usage & care tips, to help you get the most out of your tools...
Usage:
- Japanese steel is hard and sharp. To avoid chips and preserve the steel edge, do not cut wire, metal, stone, or plastic.
- Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
- It’s better to cut diagonally across branches (not straight across), so you cut along the fibres
- For heavier cuts, make sure you’re using the base of the blades (not the tips)
Care:
- Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
- Dry, wipe over with Camellia Oil and store in a dry place
- Sharpen when needed (secateurs can be sharpened every couple of weeks, shears & topiary clippers after every use to see an incredible difference).
